An important part of the programme focused on camera configuration and optimisation, which are essential for accurate and reliable data acquisition. Participants also explored how motion capture can be combined with other measurement technologies, including force plates for measuring ground reaction forces, electromyography (EMG) for recording muscle activity, and inertial measurement units (IMUs), wearable sensors used to track movement. The practical sessions covered real-time data streaming, biomechanical analysis and data processing in QTM and Calqulus. Participants also worked on connecting the motion capture system with Unity, exploring its use for interactive visualisation and animation.
The Qualisys motion capture system is part of the movement analysis infrastructure at CIIRC CTU, developed in the context of the CLARA project. As part of CLARA, CIIRC CTU is modernising its assistive technology laboratory, which includes a system for comprehensive human movement analysis. This infrastructure supports research into assistive technologies for people affected by neurodegenerative disorders. The training provided the mAIlab team with an opportunity to deepen its knowledge of the system, refine its technical skills and explore different approaches to capturing and analysing human movement.
The mAIlab team would like to thank Stefan Kratzenstein and the Qualisys team for sharing their expertise and supporting the further development of the laboratory's capabilities.
