CLARA Young Investigator Award
General Terms & Conditions

The following terms govern participation in the CLARA Young Innovator Award:

  1. By participating in the competition, or by registering or being nominated, each participant, nominee, nominator, or other involved person confirms their agreement to the competition rules.
  2. Participation in the competition or placement in the competition are not legally granted.
  3. The organizer reserves the right not to announce a winner or final ranking in the competition or in any of its categories, for example, if a low number of participants/nominations is received. Participants are not entitled to compensation for costs or damages in the event that the organizers or jury decide not to announce a winner in the competition or any of its categories.
  4. The organizers are not responsible for the authenticity or accuracy of the information provided by participants , nor are they obliged to verify such information in any way.
  5. The organizers reserve the right to exclude from the competition any participant who violates the conditions of the competition.
  6. In the event of a potential conflict of interest, the jurors are required to refrain from voting.
  7. The jury’s decisions or evaluations are final and binding in all respects. No appeals or requests for changes can be made against the decision of the jury as a whole, an individual jury member, or the competition organizer.
  8. The award will be paid by bank transfer to the account specified by the winner (provided that all required information has been submitted). Payment details for the prize transfer will be requested from the winner after the announcement of the results.
  9. In the case that the submitted work is a collective effort, the organizer will transfer the full amount of the prize to the account of the person designated in the application as the team leader. The person chosen by the team is responsible for distributing the award among the individual authors (team members) either according to the percentage of contribution, or based on another agreement made within the team.
  10. Applicants retain ownership of their project. By submitting, they grant the organizers the right to present or showcase it in CLARA Young Innovator Award communications and events.

Data Protection

  1. For the proper administration of the competition, following personal data of participants as provided in the application form will be processed: name, date of birth, email address, phone number.
  2. Participants acknowledge and agree that personal data, including names, information about their company/project/team, photographs, and recordings made for the purposes of the competition, may be published in press releases, on social media, in media outlets, on CLARA websites, or in marketing and promotional materials.
  3. Participants also acknowledge that, in connection with receiving a prize or the announcement of results, photographs, recordings, or visual materials may be taken by the organizer or third parties and used to present the outcomes of the competition
  4. Organizers are joint controllers in respect to the personal data.
  5. The legal basis for processing personal data is the legitimate interest of the controller, pursuant to Article 6(1) point (f) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (GDPR), in ensuring the efficient organization and evaluation of the competition, including the necessary record-keeping of registered participants.
  6. Personal data will be processed only for the period necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, but no longer than 10 years.
  7. In accordance with GDPR, participants have the right to:
    • request information about what personal data are processed,
    • request access to their personal data and have it corrected or updated,
    • request clarification regarding the processing of their personal data,
    • request the erasure of their personal data if the purpose for processing no longer applies or if the data was processed unlawfully,
    • object to the processing of their personal data,
    • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

The personal data of participants may be disclosed to third parties in order to fulfil legal obligations related to the administration, reporting, auditing, and oversight of the public grant funding this award. Such recipients may include EU-based public authorities, such as the European Research Executive Agency (REA) or the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
