Adam J Schwarz is Global Head of Imaging & Digital, within Pharmaceutical Diagnostics R&D at GE HealthCare. In this role, he leads imaging SMEs and an internal core lab, focused on the clinical development of diagnostic imaging agents across multiple modalities (nuclear medicine, radiology) and therapeutic areas, and on the development of novel analytical methods. Dr Schwarz earned a B.Sc. with First Class Honors in Physics and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Following a postdoctoral position in medical imaging at the Royal Marsden Hospital/Institute of Cancer Research and a brief stint as a software engineer for Marconi Medical Systems, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years as an imaging specialist and leader with increasing levels of responsibility. This encompassed 5 years with GlaxoSmithKline, 11 years with Eli Lilly, 6 years with Takeda, and a brief spell as Chief Scientific Officer at Qynapse. Dr Schwarz was elected chair of the ADNI Private Partner Scientific Board in 2013 and has over 140 peer-reviewed papers, books and book chapters. His research includes many contributions to structural, functional and molecular biomarkers in psychiatry and neurology.
