Vít Dočkal, Ph.D., INDRC Director, CLARA SB Chair
V. Dočkal is co-founder, founding director, and Executive Board member of the International Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Center (INDRC). He is the Project Coordinator and Principal Investigator of CLARA - the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing in System Brain Research (EUR 43M), currently serving as the CLARA Interim Director. Vit, former head of the Project Management Office (PMO) at CIIRC CTU in the years 2013-2021 is still having a joint appointment at CIIRC CTU thus promoting common research and development projects. Vit´s expertise covers the agenda of strategic R&D project management, innovation management, and legal aspects. As the head of the PMO, he led the project team of this R&D facility at CTU thus contributing to reaching and implementing EUR 120M (ESIF, H2020, HE, and other funding programs) for the capacity building of the CIIRC CTU in its start-up and rump up phase.
In the years 2009-2012, he led the Project Management Office at the International Clinical Research Centre of the St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno (ICRC) – a large clinical R&D infrastructure funded by ESIF and the state funds (EUR 160mil.). Vit left his career at ICRC with the 2nd highest rank of ICRC Vice-Chair in 2012.
V. Dočkal is experienced in R&D Project Management, soft skills, legal aspects, and state-aid rules. Moreover, he received a master´s degree from the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University, and a master´s degree from the Historical Institute – Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. In 2006 he received a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from the Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University at the Department of Political Science, with a thesis on the EU Regional Policy and its actors. During his Ph.D. studies at Masaryk University, V. Dočkal acted as the responsible team worker/ leader in the preparation and implementation of various national and international grants in the field of research, development, and innovations.
