Financial Manager of the International CLARA Project

The International Neurodegenerative Disorders Research Center (INDRC) is a private, not-profit research institute bringing together leading experts in neurodegeneration and artificial intelligence to achieve breakthroughs in the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. INDRC was established in 2021 as an international institute with a transparent governance model and a new research organization within an ecosystem of committed partners, including universities, research institutes, clinical centers and collaborating companies. The prestigious European CLARA grant, which is an interdisciplinary center of excellence, focuses on the use of artificial intelligence, quantum computing and supercomputing to push the boundaries of research on the human brain, its structure, and neurodegeneration, in particular Alzheimer's disease. Through breakthrough technologies and scientific research design, the project aims to bring together fragmented disciplinary knowledge, large-scale biological and clinical data to contribute to a better understanding of the origins and prevention of these diseases.

CLARA is a project of European significance and is funded by the European call Teaming for Excellence and the Czech part of Teaming-CZII announced by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic in total amount of EUR 43M.

We are looking for a new colleague to join the CLARA project as our Financial Manager.

What will your job description be?

  • Independent management of the entrusted financial agenda, financial management of the project, project administration.
  • Work on the CLARA project, within the framework of European and national subsidy schemes (Horizon Europe, OP JAK).
  • Preparation of documents for regular reports, checks and audits.
  • Preparation of documents for submitting payment applications and monitoring reports.
  • Internal and external communication (research and administrative team, subsidy providers, etc.).
  • Processing documents and analyses for the General Project Manager, the Chief Operating Officer, or CLARA Director, members of the CLARA Supervisory Board and INDRC management.
  • Coordination of the work of a smaller financial team and supervision of the correctness of accounting and payroll processes.
  • Active participation in the organization's budget planning and strategic management of financial flows in connection with the long-term goals of the project.
  • Cooperation in the preparation of new projects, budgets and funding applications.

What does a suitable candidate need?

  • Experience with financial management. Experience with administration of grant projects, especially Horizon Europe and OP JAK.
  • Analytical skills and MS Excel at an advanced level.
  • Ability to quickly orientate and master the rules of administration of calls for proposals of Horizon Europe and OP JAK subsidy schemes.
  • Advanced knowledge of English and Czech, both spoken and written.
  • Demonstrable ability to lead a financial team and set up effective internal processes.
  • Independence, reliability, diligence, ability to see the big picture, time flexibility, ability to work in a team.
  • Advantage: experience with audits, controls or administration in an academic or research environment.
  • Advantage: orientation in accounting and payroll processes of non-profit or publicly funded organizations.
